Sets a good precedent, in case any other countries are watching and want to give Trump some fun during his retirement.

Hearing fireworks in the distance.

The real shocking news here is that he was actually arrested for it. (Not holding my breath for a conviction.)

A very American news story.

Seriously, though. It’s a data center. It could be built pretty much anywhere.
When you’re building a data center, you know it’s going to need massive amounts of cooling. And for that cooling, it’s going to need massive amounts of water.
So why the ever-loving fuck would you build one in the middle of a very hot desert area? It makes cooling much more difficult, and water is difficult to get there. What the fuck is wrong in the heads of these people building data centers?

Love the one party member in the middle who’s just smiling and living their best life.
He knows he’s only got a few more moments to live, and he’s going to enjoy those moments.

I’m impressed by your ability to post on Lemmy without using any device.
How do you do it? Do you send your posts in by mail?

My Linux laptop has a battery life of ~17 hours … on a shitty little laptop from 2016 on the original battery.
You might want to look into what exactly is using all that power and fixing the issue.

Then set up a cron job that periodically tries to read a file on the drive, and if that command fails, then execute sudo mount -a
Like, set up a root account cron job to run touch \external_drive\test_file.txt || mount -a at 5-minute intervals.
Spiciness is a defense mechanism, but not against humans or other animals.
Spiciness doesn’t protect a plant against mammals – many mammals actually enjoy it, and humans aren’t the only ones who actually prefer spicier peppers. Birds can’t even taste it at all. And it does nothing to prevent insects.
What it actually does prevent is fungal infections. Spicier peppers are less susceptible to fungus problems. And this is backed up by observations in the wild: wild peppers from wetter, more humid regions tend to be spicier, while wild peppers from dry regions tend to be less spicy.

Fuel taxes pay for roads.
If only other types of taxes could be used to pay for roads… But alas, only gas taxes can be used for that. Entirely different monetary system, that. Roads need gas money and regular money just won’t do.

Or … we could just not tax electric vehicles, and call that a subsidy to encourage the more environmentally friendly option.
If, at some future point, electric vehicle adoption becomes so widespread that it becomes difficult to provide road maintenance because gas taxes aren’t being paid anymore, then you can find a different funding source for it. Maybe just fund it out of the ordinary general tax fund. Or even go really crazy and raise taxes on billionaires by two hundredths of a percent.

I use my e-bike to go faster than I can get my regular bike, particularly up hill. As such I’m getting as much exercise either way, since I’m doing the same work.
Nah. You might be working just as hard if you’re going as fast as possible, but in that case, you’re not working as long.
If you did that same hill as fast as you could on a normal bike, it would take you longer and you’d be getting that high-intensity workout for longer.

Can you commute by bike+bus? Most modern buses have bike racks on them, and your bike can still conveniently get you from your house to the bus stop and from the other bus stop to your work … in the very likely event that neither your house nor your work have a bus stop very close by.

I remember something else that made a different right-wing blogosphere grifter go away recently, and it was very effective.

Might still have had AI ‘help’ writing the script.

I can do both.
Well, yes, but normally the people in power aren’t forced to see those dramatic scenes, so they can safely ignore them.
