I got an ebike because I wasn’t confident I could commute to work on a regular bike and having the assist option helped me stress less. Biking takes my commute from ~1:40 per day to 4 on a slow day, but it’s a pretty enjoyable 4 hours and I can play the game of seeing how little battery I can use

Can’t imagine spending so much time commuting, is that every day or is it a hybrid role?

I like a cycling commute but that is a lot

Yeah it’s a lot, I’m trying to do it once per week, driving the rest, but it takes a big chunk of my day. My job is unfortunately 25 miles or so by car because it’s pretty niche and I wanted to get a house near my dad when he was sick. So 1.5-2 hours of commuting by car or 3-4 by bike is where I’m at.

Then again, when I look back, I’m always the least healthy and least happy when I’m driving the most.

Can you commute by bike+bus? Most modern buses have bike racks on them, and your bike can still conveniently get you from your house to the bus stop and from the other bus stop to your work … in the very likely event that neither your house nor your work have a bus stop very close by.

My e-bike has gotten me more confident and interested in biking! I’ve done some social rides, and for those I turn the motor off. I was surprised how well my 50 lb bike rides unassisted (after a couple of years of e-biking on class 1 bikes, getting me in better pedaling shape). Even with a 1x9 drive train I didn’t have any trouble with hills that some other riders struggled with. Last weekend I went on a 21 mile ride unassisted with no problem!

50 lbs is somewhat light for your average e-bike, but yeah, even heavier ones are fine on flats. I’ve cruised around on my EP2 Pro, which is about 70 lbs base weight.
