Some good news this morning: For anyone unfamiliar, Entropy is a white supremacist livestreaming and fundraising site, founded and run by Canadians (Chthonic Software, operating out of Tbilisi, Georgia). For more info, watch The 5th Estate’s Business of Bigotry episode.
Entropy provided WS’ like the GDL, Second Sons and the like with more financial stability because supporters could donate with debit/credit, so it’s really fabulous that they’re losing that.
@EatYourOrach one thing they don’t really get into is that the source of donations is beyond what can be reasonably gathered from individual hate assholes…the bulk is originating from state and wealthy actors, who are buying divisive propaganda.
Funding hate speech streamer assholes isn’t clearly illegal in Canada. But breaking money laundering laws is. And accepting funds that bypass sanctions on Russia? That is toxic risk to banks & processors.
The sanctions regime is very secretive and capricious as well, at least when the US is doing it. There is no appeal, there’s no like hearing if you have lunch with an Iranian somebody might send a picture of you to them and you might end up on a blacklist with no way to get out. Even if you were trading in food and Medicine which is supposed to be allowed.
Nobody will touch it because of that. The way these sanctions are done at least by the US is not cool in this and other ways.
But dems love it.
Not sure what US sanctions and the dems (an American party) have to do with a Canadian situation.
Because Canada basically copied the United States and does the same goddamn thing, presumably, and they also defer to the United States when we do our sanctions bullshit. Not so polite Canada, not so polite indeed.

Until 2020, I still had the heart to pay attention to white supremacists and other accellerationists on the internet and off: keep track of the slimy shell game renaming they do, where they organized, all that crap. Now it just makes me nuts, so I check in monthly with antihate, mainly looking for any new flags, symbols, group names, locations and so on, so I can recognise them irl.
Defunding is nice, I guess. Where is the prison time?
Thr RCMP saves their investgative time for things like indigenous protestors. They don’t investigate their own in any serious way.
Thanks for no longer funding the racists, Canadian website! Now let’s get to work on exposing them and shaming them and also, not teaching kids to be racist. We all know this is a learned behaviour by now. Hating another race does not come naturally.
