i think it’s necessary. it’s not about surpressing an opinion, but an army of fake news or conspiracy bots, propaganda, ai slop, racism, hate speech etc. the idea that you just have to educate people against this is illusory. where can you get educaged, when the internet is confronting you with 100 times the amount of information that frabicates another “reality”? it is so much easier to talk in easy headlines that you can just invent, than to explain your point, defend it with facts that you have to prove and account for the nuances.
i’m totally for free speech - however you have to take responsibility. platforms like x without proper moderation don’t do that. they fail to take responisbility.

People can still switch to Mastodon. After all, the only thing Twitter offers is the content made by users. If users switch, Twitter has no content.
