“Upgraded” my mk3s again

I did a bear mod of my mk3s a while back and them came across a CoreXY conversion that uses a chunk of the original parts through ProosaXY. I swapped the axis steppers as I would have needed another z motor anyhow. Anything I had to cut down I bought new, but things like rods, bearings, power supply and bed are reused. I had a chunk of my mods done a few months back, just didn’t have a chance to do assembly until the holidays.

Made some mods for my my setup, I like to try keeping similar parts & setups for my printers to make spares and servicing easier, so made a carriage that could accommodate a voron tap carriage w/ a canbus board on the extruder, lose a bit of print space but I’m fine with the tradeoff.

Also did up a tophat and panels, they’re partly printed, partly cut from hdpe & wrapped with aluminum tape, was trying to vaguely emulate the look of my aluminum composite panels on my v2. I had space to add some basic insulation so did that. I did up a door using the frame from the mk3s as the front and hardware from the ClickyClack Door. I still need to tune it and setup slicer profiles, some of the panel clips are mismatched as I used what I had on hand, will swap for all black or orange ones later. Power supply needs a better mount, but will work for now.

Apologies as the pictures aren’t great, took them last night when I was doing a (really rough) fast benchy as a first print.

For real, I already was calling it the mk3 of Theseus long before this, changed a lot of parts. Was trying to do somethings to pay homage to it though, colour choices for sure, big reason I wanted the middle frame from the original mk3s to be the front of the door, the mod I mostly used made it the front of the frame and I liked the look.

Have enough left over that I could mostly redo a bear mod mk3s, which I may totally do and give to my dad who’s been wanting to look at printing.

Definitely cemented my thoughts about recommending a trident over a v2 though, I like the flying gantry (if only for the cool factor) but the fixed gantry and moving z of something like the trident is just far easier to work with imo.
