I had it when I was still using Gentoo.

I had it when I was still using Gentoo.

Maybe it can help getting software to work that would otherwise only work with older Windows version, eg: software for scientific equipment.
I should generally make more use of things lile podman and systemd-nspawn. Thx!
I guess running Bedrock Linux inside podman wouldn’t work, I guess. Not sure how well nesting works with containers.

Oh, that underlines my impression of Python being used more widely for Gnome programs.
I have seen at least one person moving from Gentoo to Exherbo. Would I leave Debian behind for it? No, not currently, but maybe there is time for an experiment in the future.
I’ve tried Sabayon briefly, but not seriously. At the time, it was interesting to have more pre-built binaries. Looking back now, the Gentoo binrepos are the better solution, I think.

Sadly xrdp comes to mind. The builtin-in rdp server of Gnome is not on par yet and behaves differently.
Xrdp server prompts for the login of an existing user while Gnome new implementation has a kind of additional user/password which all users need to know. I did not find an option to disable it.
What is neat about the new implementation is, that you can login to a running sessiom remotely without being logged out at the local machine. This feels more like desktop sharing. Awesome, and in this case, having a seperate user/password makes sense.

The only thing I have found, is, that Microsoft now have a multi-installer themselves, but it can only install a limited selection from their own store.
I hope, Ninite did not become “sketchy”.

How much can one trust this Ninite thing? Sounds like the thing I want for work for easier Windows client management.

We know, who is clicking at MX Linux? And the other distros that are currently at the top?
My top distros:
Thx, I may need to look closer at noctalia-shell. If it can provide some comfort I am used to from gnome-shell, this could be it.
I considered PaperWM, too. Again, I must say. I have used it years ago. In the past it couldn’t keep up with the Gnome development. I tried to use it in later version by fat-fingering in some files. But there was a time when I could not make it compatible again. I havn’t tried it since there is new momentum in the project.
When niri first came out, I tried it with waybar. I am not sure, what I missed most, the way I can start programs or the ability to change typical settings in the gnome-control-center. The last bit could be an issue with noctalia-shell for me, too.
I hopefully will have time to experiment between the years.
Since 4 months I use Gnome on a 100Hz display at work. At home I am on a 60Hz panel. I cannot justify buying a new display, because the older 60Hz has still better colors and automatic brightness, which isn’t very common, it seems.
But I want higher refresh rates now everywhere; a dilemma!
I want to, but I miss the top panel the way gnome-shell has it implemented.
Is it possible to run niri instead of mutter together with gnome-shell?

I knew it.
Never heared of the other two.

Thx, I will use sPOngEbOBcasE from now on. [=

whatever, but it is not snake or kebab case either.
Let me rephrase: Why WhateverCase?

Why CamelCase? /o\
I like to add: switch to a job where you will meet new people on a regular basis. (:
How well does waydroid run on PostmarketOS?
For a long time I considered Gentoo the best, because I know my things around there. A month ago I said goodbye to my last Gentoo installation in favour for Debian trixie (the next stable release). Gentoo was too time consuming despite the binary repo.
If it would be my job to maintain a Gentoo system I would gladly accept, but there should be a need for it by the users. Otherwise I would just recommend Debian stable or Fedora.
My favourite is Debian over Fedora, because I often don’t need the latest versions of a software. And there is flatpak.
I think, I will borrow the idea, but I likely will use more a log-style date format in the persistent history file like this:
[2026-01-09 12:34:56] command
