  • Admin here! OneDrive synced home folders at work. Everyone ignores saving because ‘autosave’. Once a week at least, some staff member spends hours on something after the mandatory 90-day password change, never signed back in to OneDrive, and gets to kiss all that work goodbye. Also, once a quarter at least, someone was working on a document shared to the by an employee who just quit, so we have to frantically ‘unfire’ someone’s account so the suddenly missing document can be retrieved.

  • Instead of just “Boycott US pop”, may I suggest Cove Soda, Annex Soda, Rocky Mountain Brewing Company Cola, or Atypique? All are Canadian made, all beat Coke and Pepsi any day of the week, and I can personally vouch for all of them as fricking fantastic! Dr. Cove is like a milder Dr Pepper, Annex Cola is craft Cola done right, RMBC Black Cherry is to die for, and the Atypique Amaretto Sour is my go-to fake booze.

  • I encoded one of the very first mp3’s ever made, when it was still a “theoretical” model by Fraunhofer. I sung “I will survive” but in my very bad impression of William Shatner, accidentally posted it many years later on Napster, and found that copy following around many years after that on a torrent site. So, if you have a very old, very fake “Shatner” singing “I Will Survive”, it might be me.

First, buy a domain. Then, set up a server, then a hypervisor on the server, then set up a reverse proxy, punch a hole in your firewall, set up MFA, set up a container, install docker, set up NextCloud using a docker-compose, set up accounts and a client on the devices… Simple!

  • I agree, and I take it this far: “I worked hard and paid for my house, why should some lazy loafer get housing for free? I paid 24,000$ in tuition, why should kids get free college?” I think that, at some point, one guy has to be the first guy to benefit from progress, and all the people who didn’t benefit just have to suck it up. I would 100% pay a much higher tax rate if it meant that homelessness was gone, hunger was gone, kids got free education… I’m Canadian, so I don’t need to say this about health care. Yeah, I paid an awful lot of mortgage, but if someone else gets a free house? Good!
