We’ve mapped the entire human genome, we can bioengineer bacteria to spit out custom molecules and proteins, we have freely available XRC 3d models of hundreds of thousands of proteins and their docking sites, we have (free) computational chemistry software that can do quantum molecular dynamics and supercomputers (but you only really need a fucking laptop), and the toolbox of organic chemistry is vastly larger than what it was in the 1950s.

The reason why no-one has come up with a safe and effective male contraceptive that can be anywhere near compared to existing female contraceptives is because it turns out to be fucking difficult.

Claude will come up with all kinds of creative ideas and that’s neat, but you really need to reign it in to make it useful. Use Claude’s code as a suggestion, cut out the stuff that’s over the top – explain why you did that to Claude, it will generally get it. Add it to your CLAUDE.md if it’s a repeat issue.

Exactly. There’s a Dunning-Kreuger effect here where if you don’t know what you’re doing, it looks like AI just miraculously does what you would have wanted it to do if you were smart enough to craft a good prompt.

But if you know what you’re doing, you know what tasks it is worth using AI for, and then you craft a good prompt, get a lot of valuable processing done by the AI, and then review, fine-tune and polish the rest.

I mean, there is some nuance to be considered here. The USA has made it abundantly clear that they plan for a major conflict in the South China Sea for over a decade now.
