Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•this is exactly the shit fucking job you'd expect from him to repair a national monument
38·14 days agoOh, it definitely seems like it is in need of repairs. But the article also says the contractor talked Trump out of a “Bahamas turquoise” color for the liner, so I feel like this is at least a little bit of both 😅

Jokes aside, this says so much about the way Trump sees the world. It’s a pool, so it must look like a swimming pool because that’s all he knows.
Took me way too long 😅 I had apparently managed to suppress the memory of that whole train wreck…
“Sea legs” would have been my suggestion
For context this was a REAL ad campaign from tech startup Artisan, that was plastered all over the Bay Area (and later elsewhere, including internationally) last year.
Lots of planes have in-flight wi-fi these days, so instant messages are fine. Looks like iMessage in the OP, so I’ll rate it as plausible!

Technology@lemmy.world•European Union (EU) finds Meta in breach of Digital Services Act for failing to prevent minors under 13 from using Instagram and FacebookEnglish
103·24 days agoExactly! The EU digital wallet spec is perfect for this: It allows for granular info like “is this person older than X years”, which is exactly what we want here! Not what Meta wants, obviously, but fuck them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discomfort with modern technology shapes Gen Z's desire to live in the pastEnglish
21·29 days agoI’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the problem is not the technology, but who controls it.
If we actually taught digital literacy in schools, and democratized access to technology, people could be making their own software made for solving problems instead of capturing attention!
That is, indeed, the joke!

True. A decade or two earlier might have been different: All the historical examples in this thread had my mind locked in to the twenties or thirties, not the fifties!
