94.3 F is 34.6 °C. The body temperature is 36 to 37 °C. Therefore, the thermal camera shows the temperature a little bit wrong. It’s unlikely that the butt would be much colder than 36 °C.
Works about 95 % reliably in Finland, though! And usually if it doesn’t, there’s been a warning saying “we have an exceptionally long queue; calling back might take over a day”. When you hear that, you know there’s a 50% chance that they will never call back. Once the queue gets three days long, they just delete it because so many of the calls would be useless at that point.
More about this here. So yes, they do that. And nobody does that unless they hate their country. Or at least their lungs and climate because lignite is a catastrophe for both.

He has a child.
He knows what it would mean for the child if he sat years behind bars. That changes the calculation quite a bit!
A loving parent won’t get themself in a jail unless it’s something that benefits the child enough to cover for losing a parent for many years.

Suspended sentences work so that if you trigger the activation of the suspended sentence during the probation time, the whole length of the suspended sentence starts rolling. Therefore, if at 4 years and 11 months of a 5-year probation you do a crime that triggers the activation of your suspended sentence, you sit 7 years. And if you commit the same crime on day 8 of the probation, you still sit the same 7 years.
At least over here in Finland it can also work so that the suspended sentence is only a couple of months for some crimes, but the probation is still 4 years or 6 years or whatever. People often read that “damn, only two months and they are free”, but in reality it means you must spend 5-ish years having to be mindful of not doing any similar-ish, even much less serious, crime or you’ll find yourself sitting behind bars for those two months plus whatever the repeated offence carries.

Back when it sank, it was said that it was carrying cranes needed at the Vladivostok port for expanding the Russia’s ability to export over the sea to southeastern Asia.
Might have been true as well, but it’s interesting that this kind of important piece of information managed to go missing for so long because it looked like there was already an answer to why the ship was on the way. And also, to why it was sunk.

Here’s PieFed’s “Donate” page: https://piefed.europe.pub/donate

I’d like to clarify here that Voyager can do with PieFed everything it can do with Lemmy. But PieFed has a lot more features than Lemmy does, and of those extra features, Voyager supports none. But that only means that the PieFed experience on Voyager is precisely the same as the Lemmy experience on Voyager!

PieFed and mBin exist. Both do everything Lemmy does, and a bit more. They use less resources as well. What reason would there be for forking Lemmy? The only reason Lemmy is the most popular one among these is that it was the first one. Since then, better things have surfaced.

PieFed is essentially what OP means. It exists, it does everything Lemmy does, and a bit more. And it does it faster, both for the user and for server resources.

Then probably something else will be funded in the same amount. That will be either PieFed or mBin.

I had no such experience in Mumbai in 2015/2016 when I was there. And I did walk there quite a bit.
Forumverse is the part of the Fediverse where posts are made in communities and not on individual users’ timelines. So, this thing you and me use right now through PieFed, Lemmy, mBin, Friendica, and similar.
It’s also been called Threadiverse, but because even tech-savvy people not used to Fediverse almost invariably confuse it with Meta’s crap, many people have switched from calling this Forumverse instead of Threadiverse. And I decided to jump on that bandwagon after enough communication hiccups.
(Thinking of it… Is there a name for Fediverse’s microblogging section? Are Sharkey users “using Mastodon”?)
The search engines will eventually start getting it. For example web.archive.org now clearly has code specifically for archiving Forumverse posts, because they seem to rewrite all usernames to show @web.archive.org as the instance. (Which is super weird, I must say!)
One search engine has aknowledged the existence if the Forumverse. Others are bound to eventually do the same. It might be weird to a crawler that the same content is on a hundred different sites, but it’s easy to code them to “understand” the reason.
PieFed instances’ admins have the option to automatically ban any user accounts that do this if the instance’s admin so wishes. Hopefully the same feature will come to Lemmy soon enough, if it doesn’t have it yet!
Won’t using the search of lemmy.world pretty much solve this? What communities do they not federate? It doesn’t need to have many users for one of them being from .world.
You can remember the usernames of people who do the nuking and avoid posts by them. At least on PieFed you can also write a note about the user to be shown to you next to their nickname over each post and comment they send. Might be possible on Lemmy as well?
What’s unreliable about the search?
I have children and have nothing against someone dating me.
As I consider it okay to date a single parent such as I am, I also consider it okay if at some point a I end up wanting to date someone else who is a single parent as well.
