11·18 days agoIdk of this happens in Germany but in the U.S. some landlords, mostly smaller ones, will fold the water bill into the rent. So it is effectively “free” in that you are not charged by the amount you use.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
2·19 days agoMake soup (from veggies and beans). Eat fruit for your snacks multiple times a day. Always go for whole grains (bread, pasta, rice, etc.). Eliminate cheese entirely (seriously, it is terrible for you). Replace milk with soy milk (doesn’t have the saturated fat or sugar). Reduce or eliminate meat consumption. Avoid added sugars when possible.
A good rule of thumb that I find helpful is that the majority of ingredients in all meals should naturally contain non-negligible amounts of fiber. The things you eat should also mostly have plenty of water in them already for bulk and digestion. Dry foods (including oil-based foods) are far too easy to overeat.
These are relatively simple rules that leave tons of options for variety but force you to have a fairly healthy diet. They are easy to implement in a lifelong diet with no need for calorie-counting.
Not an embedded dev. What’s the Rust situation in the embedded world? Is it ever used?

2·19 days agoThe slices aren’t in any reasonable order. This even led to this mistake in the article:
C was in use for 76% of the codebase followed by Rust at 10.3% and Vala at 3.77%.
(Python was between Rust and Vala at 4.76% for the library languages)

92·23 days agoiirc her writings gave me the impression that she basically worships communism and famous soviet communist leaders in a vaguely religious way. I can go look again later and elaborate. It could just be the language barrier that gave me that impression.
Edit: I was misremembering Alexandra Elbakyan, the creator of Sci-Hub, as Anna of Anna’s Archive. Oops
