While I don’t think it deserves the win over Blue Prince, it does have some interesting gameplay innovations compared to others in the genre, as well as some interesting tech.

In particular, the included PvE element, as well as the sorter session and decreased death penalty makes the game much more accessible. It also helps offer an incentive to not shoot-on-sight, as the bots serve as a common enemy and shared threat. Its a difference between games like PUBG where games are tense, hour-long affair, and something like Fortnite where its colourful, easy to get into, and despite still being competitve, filled with other diversions for those who won’t win.

I believe its a mix of the fact that Google favours large websites, and the fact that so much of the Fediverse is hostile to bots/crawling, which also tends to exclude search engines.

The biggest thing for me is searchability. After a post is off the feed, it may as well be deleted. God help you if you’re looking for something new, like a guide or help post. Most of the Fediverse is unindexed by search engines, and the built-in Lemmy search makes Reddit search look like Google in it’s prime. I know PieFed has helpped a bit by adding flairs, so you can at least sort by that, but to my knowledge thats about as far as anyone has gone trying to address this.

I’ve got a large enough backlog for the time being, but still wanted to say, “thanks for the giveaway!”

I’ve tried Mastrodon and PeerTube, but bounced off both due to a lack of quality content. On Mastrodon, the only person I found worth following was Technology Connections, and on PeerTube, I didn’t find any of the more scripted and/or well-editted videos that I normally enjoy.

I haven’t tried PieFed yet, but might consider switching at some point given Lemmy’s idology, and increasingly present shortcomings.

By the sound of it, it was minimal profit at base price, and while things should get cheaper to manufacture and sell over time, hardware prices are rapidly increasing. I wouldn’t be suprised if they need to increase their prices to break even, going forward - esspecially given that if its too cheap, buisness or industry customers might start buying it.
