It would obviously be a net good for global society if the US federal government stopped functioning; if the government continues pursuing its current interests that will never happen, yet if foreign lobbyists whose interests are fundamentally enemical to the US (such as China, but not Israel, which is just an appendage of the US) can influence the US federal government it may happen. At least that seems more proximal than the US working class suddenly gaining the kind of militant political stances and organization that would be necessary otherwise. But if both things could happen that’d be even better.

So the Democratic Party is structurally incapable of pushing through the reforms and new programs that are necessary to stop fascism? Why should people keep being married to that party instead of supporting any other effort, and pay no rhetorical support nor lip service to a party that also facilitates fascism?

Though it might all come back to haunt Trump eventually since there’s thousands of lawsuits filed against him for all the times he misused executive orders. That’s just wishful thinking on my part though.

He’ll die before any of those consequences matter. His fascist successor will probably rinse the next Democratic nominee because the Democrats don’t intend to change anything or make any of the changes you’re talking about happen. It’s a million times more realistic to hope that the United States splits into multiple incoherent territories that are no longer able to terrorize the rest of the world than hope the Democratic Party suddenly turns around and become the opposite of what it has been during essentially its whole existence (maybe except for the minute that Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights act).

Did he appoint the judges for the supreme court?

He could’ve expanded it, like FDR threatened to do and forced the court to let him do some of the New Deal reforms they were previously opposed to. Biden never lifted a finger with regards to that. This also could’ve maintained Roe v Wade.

Yeah, priests can’t run for office. However, it’s weird with the Pope because there’s restrictions on the ways in which a reigning Pope can stop being Pope (this actually was a big deal when Benedict XVI resigned, some people thought he didn’t have the right to do that just because he was sick). So while a priest just stops being a priest if he wants to run for office, I’m not sure how it works with the Pope.

Yeah you’re exactly right, as I said we live in completely different and irreconcilable realities. The fact of the matter is, given the option between sitting down with people like myself (Hexbear user) who have extremely different views, or just hitting the button that makes us all go away, the vast majority of people will just hit the button. It’s not really even a liberal thing, people behave that way regardless of ideology (although I think there’s something particular about how atomized and depersonalizing the current state of social media is that makes that kind of behavior more common).

But you see my point — you’re perfectly within your rights to think that everyone who’s a socialist/Marxist/whatever has gone too far or whatever, and not wish to interact with them. Replicate similar preferences across a whole community, though, and it ends up isolating them and creating the situation that the root comment of this thread is lamenting. We’re just little echo chambers siloed off from each other because the cognitive dissonance of experiencing each other’s versions of reality is too much.

It’d also be nice to see a few more viewpoints.

Unfortunately, hasty defederation has made this impossible. It’s too easy for people in a community to ask for defederation instead of confronting other people’s viewpoints. Not to mention that when very contentious topics are brought up and there are whole communities full of people who dedicate a lot of time to reading about and thinking about those topics, it can create a poor situation where that community suddenly starts an outburst of too many disagreeing viewpoints. Compound that with the extremely fractured state of information and media where people live in completely different realities. It gets to be too much, and it’s exceedingly difficult to have a civil conversation when the gulf between 2 communities is so large.

With those obvious pieces in place: Do you think that someone that’s a murderer or tax cheat or rapist or Nazi or Pedohile (pretty much the entire Republic卐n party) should not be deprorted?

Why should they be deported? You’re begging the question that deportation is the solution to those problems in the first place. You’re also saying this like the point of ICE was ever to catch violent criminals, when it has always been an agency that exists to catch people who haven’t otherwise been processed by the criminal justice system. The violent criminals who happen to be immigrants are already caught and processed by the regular cops who are tasked with dealing with those crimes.

Which deportations are good and righteous as you say? What part of ICE has ever been good? Why do you think the solution for immigrants being in your country without papers is to use violence against them, instead of just… letting them apply for paperwork easier?

Yeah of course that’s not how French society will look at the murder. But that’s not because of how much the French value life (lol, how long did it take to recognize Palestine?) or because of how noble they are, it’s because French society is racist as hell and values fascists 1000x more than the Black and Brown people the racists kill routinely. Laws are enforced by making some legal entity either comply to them, or be punished (via fines for example).

There’s a limited extent to which laws can still be enforced on a service that’s hosted outside of the countries with those laws, but the point of open source and decentralized alternatives to Discord is that they’re harder for governments to force into enforcing these kinds of laws.

I’m saying that the meme is correct insofar as Western oligarchs can commit crimes and participate in extremely large criminal conspiracies, as proven by the Epstein files. No such scandal has been proven of China.

I would conjecture that the political system of the PRC is more resilient to the kind of corruption and abuses that need to exist for decades for a conspiracy of that scale to develop. I don’t really have hard proof of that but it’s at least inarguable that comparing the West to China, China is 1 - 0 in terms of not being exposed for having a giant ring of pedophiles that control everything.

Is your assumption that an equivalent conspiracy exists, despite no evidence? And to the extent that there are abusers and evildoers in the CPC: why aren’t they in the Epstein files? There’s people from almost every other country on the planet on there, why no one from the second largest country on Earth and the main trade partner of the US, where most of the people involved are based?
