Good to know. Thanks. It’s crazy they didn’t do this from the beginning.
Hmm… I might have to look into the WhatsApp issue as I still need it for work, friends and family (not my choice). Do you think it makes any difference if the bootloader is still locked? I think /e/OS devices from FP come locked.
Thanks for the info. I use Linux as my daily driver on my PC so I’m used to accepting a nonzero level of discomfort! :)
Yes. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth buying a model that comes with /e/OS pre-installed or if it’s better to stick with Android.

Someone once said “don’t let perfection be the enemy of good” … or something like that.
Anyway, my point is it’s good that this kind of stuff is starting to get into mainstream media, even if they don’t go into as much detail as they could.
They might not have wanted to scare people off by giving them too much information all at once, especially things like the Fediverse which even lots of tech savvy people don’t really understand.
Good spot! The image is exactly the same apart from the nut (which is also exactly the same shape).
I saw a post recommending Limo not too long ago. I’ve not used it but it has FOMOD and LOOT support.

This can also be achieved just by changing DuckDuckGo’s settings using the menu in the top-right corner of the page and can turn off other things including adverts if you want to.

Describing volume dials as “retro” is setting a very low bar for what can be considered retro. Also, it should have been super obvious to car makers from the start that using a touchscreen for almost everything was a really bad idea! As others have pointed out, you need to be able to control the car without having to take your eyes off the road for more than a couple of seconds.

best-looking warship anywhere on the world’s oceans.
The enemy are going to be so stunned by it’s beauty they won’t shoot at it!

There’s a graph on the linked page, but I’m not quite sure what to make of it. According to the overall trend “SteamOS Holo 64 bit” seems to be decreasing but “Arch-based” (which is also what SteamOS is) seems to be the one that is going up the most. Fedora has only recently started being tracked, but they probably came under “Other” before.
I can’t really compare them because I’ve not used LineageOS, but I got a Fairphone Gen6 with /e/OS a few weeks ago and it’s better than I expected.
One of the problems with custom roms is you have to unlock the bootloader to install them which can then prevent some apps from working. I didn’t have a problem with that because the phone came with /e/OS pre-installed with the bootloader locked. Depending on what you need the phone to do it might be worth considering. It gets quite frequent updates.
The main issue I had with /e/OS was the launcher was too basic for my needs. However, this was easily fixed by just installing a different one. Most of the default apps are good enough that I haven’t needed to find a replacement for them.
