7·9 days agoSure, but it’s more often a prominent factor for women in where to go when starting to date someone.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those in countries with universal healthcare, what's it like?
21·19 days agoUK
I got hit by a driver a couple of years ago. Ambulance to A&E was free. Triage and being seen was free. CT was free. Sling for broken clavicle was free. I had 6 weeks off work due to lingering effects of concussion - getting signed off by the doctor was free.
I usually see the GP once or twice a year for minor things and those visits are always free.
My partner’s antidepressants are free. Therapy is free. Birth control is free.
In Scotland all prescriptions are free.
I can’t imagine having to consider finances in the event of any health issues.

16·29 days agoTell that to the millions of people who met long-term partners only because they used dating apps. I met mine on an app and now we have a kid together. We don’t have overlapping friend groups, and although we share hobbies we didn’t do them in the same areas.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC wrestles with left-wing Dems as 2028 decision looms
27·1 month agoStrangely click bait title. None of the contents of the article indicates a severe back and forth or her having strong negative feelings towards the democratic socialists (progressives?). It all seems to stem from:
- Voting against additional war funding for Israel but the dissenting voices were all clumped together in a statement that retained support for self-defense. All other statements from her outwith this as linked or quoted appear to be anti-Zionist.
- She doesn’t hand out endorsements like candy, but also doesn’t necessarily condemn those she doesn’t endorse, i.e. she isn’t engaging in schoolyard politicking.

32·1 month ago404 just ask you to sign up to read their articles. I don’t think you need to pay for most of them (I can read this one and haven’t paid).
I get it as well, but some people need something a bit more solid to realise just how stupid something is. I haven’t looked at circuits since high school, but if I see something that just straight up doesn’t work, that’s undeniable.
It looks like he was trying to prove that using AI to make things is bad.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Christians of Lemmy, how do you feel about the U.S. president posting an Al photo of him as Christ?
7·1 month agoI think reducing his discussion to
well, actually, if we interpret it like this instead
does him a disservice. Why not consider the contexts in which all the interpretations have been made? If many of the details are flimsily translated, but the core message of love is consistent then why must people who would prefer Christianity to be a religion of kindness keep telling Christians that they are hateful?
This coming from a non-religious, non-spiritual person.
