I cannot, in good conscience, recommend a project with a lead that is as verbally abusive and utterly unable to appreciate even highly constructive criticism as Micay, technical merits notwithstanding. I am fine when others recommend it though.

Let’s call a spade a spade: He is a raging asshole with severe clinical paranoia. I’m literally certain that if he saw this post he’d accuse me of being a shill for calyxos and to never fucking again interact with any grapheneos account. Both have happened to me before (Hence I refuse to ever interact with his troupe again, even though I use graphene and agree with the vast majority of its technical decisions; I have also stopped actively recommending it to anyone, the social media experience is simply way too attrocious).

If you can find a way, so can “the bad guys™”. If you feel charitable towards MS do a “responsible disclosure” and inform them and agree to a release embargo, so they can fix it first; If you don’t, do a “full disclosure” and just publish =^_^=
I personally favour Alpine Linux for its minimalism, but Devuan or Debian are fine, and more familiar choices, too. Depending on what you intend to run, especially appliance-like things, OpenBSD might be a good alternative.

Thx. No, I have yet to see anything from an LLM that I consider remotely useful. And I wouldn’t be caught dead leting one anywhere near any system integration (Just look at all of the AWS outages in the past months). I continue to remain utterly baffled whenever anyone uses them for anything (other than maybe image generation, but I’d rather pay a small artist for those); I mean, their “summaries” are just as much random garbage as their citations… They look reasonable, but that’s all they do. I think LLMs are a neat parlor trick that is going to cost us, as a species, a lot, without getting us any closer to AGI.

Also: I apologize for my wording. I had an extremely strong emotional reaction, and I shouod have stopped and thought.

I’m trying. For the record: The global-warming-increasing tech-bro-billionaire-owned LSD-tripping babble-automatons are not exactly universally applauded. Saying anything about them requires care.

I know I come across like an asshole here, and I don’t want to hurt feelings, but, in case you are human, you should really consider your impulse control, writing coherence, and, maybe, how a given topic is usally regarded by the intended audience. In short, next time, please stop and think before posting something as emotionally charged as that, ok?

Given the coherence of your post I’m frankly assuming it to be another LLM-pretends-to-be-human test balloon; And following those links would either be positive reinforcement of its utility function or tell some “real” humans that their crap at least garners interest. Just no, not even once.

Whole post reads like it was generated by an LLM, lots of words, very little sense…

Who gives a flying rat’s ass? Pestilence upon you and the electrons you rode in on.

I’m another fellow barefoot-indoors-and-minimal-sole-whenever-possible-without-causing-a-ruckus and, yeah, ruckus happens weirdly often…

Given that there are multiple replies from people that had not been aware…

Usually very old (more tenth than second-hand) Lenovo ThinkPads (And, yes, I am aware of IBMs involvement in Holocaust management via the Deutsche Hollerith-Maschienen AG), they tend to be ok for neat things like LibreBoot too. If I didn’t want to tinker with them myself I’d buy directly from https://minifree.org/ instead. Sure, they are oooooold, but I’m a programmer of the vim-persuasion, but not compiling horrible languages like C++, so I really don’t need much. That said: I am ok with people making their own decisions, following their own moral compass; I really just wanted to make sure that they are at least aware and can make an informed decision ;-)

There’s loads of articles out there about them, not my job to explain them to you. You may disagree with their conclusions, of course, but othes may draw conclusions from your behaviour, too. In this sense: plonk

Definitions, or rather language, tend to change over time. Usually turning into their opposites. And nothing stops people, in this case right wingers, to abuse a term to hide their crap either. See “Evolution: Contoversy”. No,I’m sorry, just like “Hacker” has become a synonym for “Cracker” & “Black Hat”, so “apolitical” has become a fig leaf to “hide” right wing bullshit in plain sight

You realize that “apolitical” is an extremely well-known nazi dog-whistle / pure apologetics these days, right? I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy framework, that’s your call to make, and my threshold-to-nazi is clearly different from yours, but I do think people should at least look at who they’re in bed with.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t call them out though.

Now, if only they considered not sponsoring nazis… https://www.theregister.com/2025/10/14/framework_linux_controversy/
Sure, just not something I am comfortable actively recommending myself.
