I do think some snooping is normal, especially given how secretive teens become. But as with everything there a lines to be drawn.

As much as I’d dream of this. If the blue states left, it would tank the red economy and make them pissy. They would then pull a Russia and try to force back those states. You’d then have old US being attacked by Mexico, Canada and New US. The other issue is that most of the weapons of mass destruction are currently residing mostly red states.
Since this side of the world would be in turmoil, I’d have to assume Russia and China would take advantage of that for their own gains.

That is pretty smart, but that parent would have founds poems suspicious. This is the same parent that said their kid had somehow convinced all their teachers to lie about them going to chess club to cover for her, because of course they were outside being up to no good.

I used up so much of my youth on mIRC. I was even on a server that had a make shift 1 pn 1 yugioh online battling platform that I believe also ran through irc. Those were the days.

They would have 100% gotten in trouble for using cyphers.

I knew someone who had a parent
You are safe to assume they had a difficult time adjusting as an adult.
So no, not normal.

I agree with the dlc. I could not finish it. I am sure they just wanted to do something new, but it just felt too different to me.
I would love to even be a one hit wonder. That’s already mathematically rare.

Ah, yeah, entire full movies would be a bit harder, as that would cost a lot of time and money.
Given how many people are unemployed in the vfx industry there is enough people to do it, but they would get a cease and desist from the film companies. Not only would they have a hard time showing off their effort, they can potentially get themselves in trouble or black listed from working in the industry.
Maybe things that are public domain.

I believe Corridor Crew does that every now and then, don’t they?

The sad truth is, these apps are not great for minorities, so I never had much luck on them. OkCupid’s articles and statistics further proved this. I miss when they used to release their in depth info, before Match bought them out.
I used them about 10yrs ago. Right when Tinder was starting to pick up in popularity I was thankfully able to get off of them.

I was going to chime in with something similar. It used to not be free to be creative before (unless you pirated). It was actually more expensive. You had to work full time in person at a studio, or be a student, to have access to creative software. I think the idea of freemium has ruined the expectations of people a bit, as people expect things to be for free.
That being said, I don’t think there’s been a cheaper time to be a digital creative, because of all the open source and free options people have now. Will you be able to keep making money from for the long run? Probably not, but it can remain a hobby.
What exactly have they been saying to you?

Thank you! It’s sad this comment is so far down. This has been one of the most confusing group of responses I’ve read on the fediverse so far. So many angry and unmovable people who sound like they don’t communicate with humans.

Texting used to be done with a number pad, so going as far as adding a period used to be a statement. Obviously we all have keyboards now, but I’m sure some of that still translates over to today.
I know there tends to be a disagreement about this on Lemmy, but this is also what I have observed.
For example, If someone has a computer problem and its windows, there’s a good chance the top comment will be “Stop, use linux”. Almost any conversation can turn into “you’re supporting capitalism”. It discourages people from wanting to post and engage, because of the likely hood of something turning into an argument. Not everyone has the mental bandwidth for it, and they just want a place to come and chill.
Hell I used to be active in making Cassettefuturism grow when lemmee was a thing, and we’d get people coming into that niche community to argue with us about our hobby.
The difference between Reddit and Lemmy was that niche communities would usually not hit the front page and you could be off in your own little corner. Here since things are smaller, you are more likely to run into some niche communities through discovery.
