A man in Florida was fined almost $30,000 for letting his grass grow too long. In 2022, the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled against him, stating that the long grass wasn’t harmful to the government but the fine was not excessive, since the homeowner was fined $500 a day , not $30,000 at once.

What the absolute fuck. How isn’t $500 a day excessive? Fucking rich assholes, man.

one of the cars has to be parked slightly over the grass in Martinez’s yard, in violation of a local property-maintenance ordinance, which has led to a $250 fine every day since 2021.

Only in US, where the government demand people to drive, refuse to provide alternative, and then fine them for parking in a funny way within their own property.

I mean, you would think after the first day of getting a $250 ticket, the family would’ve done a little problem solving on their driveway situation.

Letting tickets pile up for over four years before checking to see if they stand up in court is a level of overconfidence that honestly makes it hard to have much sympathy.

I mean, it can be a form of protest too – and let’s be honest, paying a fine for having slightly unkempt grass or parking slightly curvy on your own house’s parking spot, is stupid.
