Ok but that’s just evil.
They painted it at a T junction, you can see there’s a road coming from the opposite direction, and at night, anybody who’s not local could have fallen for that and just assumed it was normal crossroads.
There’s also barely, if any, sidewalk in front of the painting, that could at least have alerted the driver.
It’s pure luck that the guy wasn’t driving fast, or there’d be dead bodies because of this stupid prank. This needs jail time, even if suspended.
It never actually happened, though the painting did briefly exist before being painted over in 2015.
The people who knock self driving systems often forget how dumb a lot of drivers are.

I also knock off car-first cities. A tram will not go full looney toons. And I expect that the professional drivers that are actually needed in a city will also not do it that often.
I’ve seen tram drivers do incredibly stupid things. But yeah, they generally stick to the rails.
