The 2000’s series. I really enjoyed it when it was new, but found it pretty tedious when I tried to rewatch it more recently.

I’ve tried to rewatch that on a couple of occasions in the past few years, and nope.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump blamed for gas prices as Democrats gain midterm edge
11·17 days agoI’ll believe it when I see it. Indiana had their republican primaries yesterday, and Trump-backed candidates cleaned house. He’s still the king in the eyes of the GOP.
Sure, maybe there’s some “undecided” or “swing” voters out there, but frankly, I wouldn’t trust them even a little bit. Anybody “undecided” in the current political climate simply isn’t paying attention and can’t be relied on to vote based on actual issues. There’s more than enough time to manipulate them into supporting Trump and the GOP.

politics @lemmy.world•MAGA Is Increasingly Convinced the Trump Assassination Attempt Was Staged
1·1 month agoA friend of a friend studies the spread of conspiracy theories. A while back (during the first Trump admin, IIRC) I was talking to them and they mentioned that there are pretty much just as many conspiracies on the left as on the right. The big difference is that the left doesn’t have Fox News (the most widely watched TV news in the US) amplifying their conspiracy theories.

101·2 months agoGod how I miss living in an urban area. Until two years ago, I’d bike with my kids to their school every day. Where we are now, it’s 10 miles of deathtrap pavement away. ☹️ I wouldn’t feel comfortable riding most of it on my own, let alone with my kids.
Fuck cars. Quality of life is so much higher when you don’t have to depend on them.

Latency is one of the big selling points for Outposts. They have customers wanting to control industrial equipment from their cloud resources, but the nearest AWS region is too far away to provide the low latency connectivity they need. With Outposts, they get the cloud, but with on-prem network latency.

10·5 months agoI really wish people would understand that billionaires don’t speak for “America” and that their interests are almost exactly opposed to the interests of regular people. This is the case regardless of where on the political spectrum your beliefs happen to lie.

3·5 months agoWhen the No Kings protest happens every single day, things will change. Until then, it’s an inconvenience to be waited out, nothing more.
There’s a small group of committed people in my small town who protest every week, but we’re a long way from getting something of the scale of the No Kings protests.

Not for a game, but for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Waiting outside in downtown Boston with a bunch of other Star Wars nerds who had waited their entire adult lives for this moment was a better experience than the film itself, by a longshot.
edit - there are a few of us in this thread with the same experience. If you weren’t there, you really can’t imagine what it was like growing up with the original trilogy and the hope that someday maybe there would be more. It’s hard to express how disappointing TPM was. In hindsight, it was probably impossible for the studio to satisfy us, but I wish they could have tried just a little bit harder.
