Yeah in my view (not US but applies regardless of country) the better thing would be to beef up court capacity then start prosecuting the absolute buggery out of anyone who uses, or negligently allows, a model under their control to commit crimes.

Ah fair forgot it was still illegal at a federal level. Our situation is different as we’re a unitary state with limited devolution, it’s still a class B drug here criminally speaking but they moved it into a lighter schedule in other legislation so it could be prescribed like morphine, tramadol, that sort of thing for medical purposes. Recreationally, there’s no political courage for legalisation nor much moral authority for harsh prohibition either so the can gets kicked another generation.

I’m on medical cannabis in the UK, while our system is not set up for it at all if an employer took umbrage with it for a non-operational reason (such as operating heavy machinery vs being on it at all) that’d be a fairly open and shut disability discrimination case. Same as if you fired an employee for being on tramadol or similar.

One thing that’s somewhat more annoying to get hold of is Colatura di Alici, the garum-like anchovy sauce. You more of less must order it from Italy and ship internationally. Absolutely top-tier stuff though, I use it in modern dishes too. I can see why it was so popular.

I just wish long pepper was more widely known, I can get it easily from Indian shops in the UK but it’s not so widely known or available. It’s among my favourite spices, think black pepper but way more aromatic and ‘flowery’. It was known to the Romans but fell out of favour many centuries ago in Europe.

The real problem in my view is that people don’t recognise post-imperial fusion cusines as ‘legit’ British food even though the curry house is the definition of an Anglo-Indian institution. When people in Britain claim the tikka masala it’s not being twee or politically correct, rather it’s earnestly considering an immigration-originated fusion cusine as part of the wider national one.

Also even pre-20th century British food isn’t exactly bad, I’d argue it doesn’t travel amazingly in many cases but a Sunday roast in our climate is sheer perfection. Too many people expect France or Italy from a country with nothing like their climate.

Russia might be good at general shithousery and political warfare but I feel this just feeds their mythos. America did Trump to itself to a large extent, certainly by voting him in after the man attempted a literal coup.

If we can’t beat reddit for user count, we should at least be able to beat their low bar for parsing obvious sarcasm.

They could use their professional expertise to issue a statement bringing Trump’s precipitous psychological decline to wider public attention.
