He was first nominated in 2024 and lost to Shogun, but probably should have won there.

In 2025 he was up against season one Doctor Robby and ok, maybe he doesn’t win there.

But this year, 2026, against season two Doctor Robby? He should have won. It would have been close, but Gary Oldman is golden.

For years the joke has been that Vince Gilligan wrote Pluribus for Rhea Seehorn because he felt bad she never won an Emmy for her role on Better Call Saul. Well she did it. Congrats.

Season 1 is also seeing renewed attention, with streaming viewership up 50% since the release of the standalone prequel episode “Marathon Day” on July 31, a month before Season 2 dropped.

It’s probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen a show do. They renumbered (on the Hulu app) all of season 1 and put the prequel episode as the new first episode. But it did cause me to rewatch season one again, so the article is right.

Anyway, excellent show, I hope they get long seasons in the future.

Sprawling Columbian landscapes are beautifully captured on camera as Snyder explores a darker, more grounded story, with Zimmer working overtime to create the film’s atmosphere. Light on dialogue and letting the visuals and music create the emotion for the majority of the film, and rightfully so as the dialogue is rough to say the least, and there are definitely some scenes that serve no purpose. But there’s a haunting story about evil, destruction and redemption that makes for an intriguing film #TIFF26

Re The Orville,

As I understand he’s now at least written all the episodes for the next season, now it’s just a matter of getting everything together (the equally hard part).

I thought he would stick with The Orville on a regular basis, but maybe once you achieve your dream it’s easy to start looking at other projects.

Paramount called his bluff on the Ted live action series (he would only do it if they could have movie level budget for CGI Ted, and they did, for two seasons at least). So I think he jumped at that since it seemed like a limited time offer.

Plus now he’s diving back into animation with a Stewie spin-off show and a Ted animated show.

I do hope we get Orville season 4 someday, especially with Star Trek coming to an end (for now).

I wouldn’t have thought anything of this, but Destin Daniel Cretton is a great director and seems like a solid writer.

I’m assuming Marvel have him queued up for a Spider-Man or something similar film (Shang Chi 2 when), but he’s also working on a Naruto film next.

Overall I’m definitely impressed with the content Apple has put out. I hesitate to say HBO has lost their magic, but I could see someone prefer Apple’s offerings over HBO’s, especially if we only look at recent and not the full backlog.

I think HBO is still putting out a lot of prestige TV (The Pitt, DTF St Louis, Hacks, Lanterns, HOTD, AKotSK, etc), but Apple is definitely putting out hit after hit after hit (Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, Slow Horses, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, etc).

Both are going to win big this weekend at the Emmys.

Depending on your source Kimmel averages about 2 million viewers on TV every night. On YouTube Kimmel’s monologue gets about 3.5 million views.

Kimmel’s interviews on YouTube vary wildly but I hope this gets big viewership.

Kimmel’s opening monologue didn’t address this so I’m guessing it’s false. We’ll see if anything changes as the week goes on but probably false.
