“I crashed my car while I was learning, too, it all turned out alright” to a kid who had just had a collision outside my house with a parked car (not mine). He seemed to be taking it pretty hard. I was in a collision while I was learning to drive, but the lie was that I was at fault, when in fact I had been rear-ended by a distracted driver. Also, my car was written off, so “turned out alright” is subjective. I’m an open car-hater, and frequent attendee of the fuckcars communities here on Lemmy, but I’m not so proud as to not put that on-hold for a teen going through Baby’s First Car Accident.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is posting from #Mastodon to a #Lemmy community a good idea or will this just confuse everyone?English
81·7 days agoI keep both a Mastodon and a Lemmy account, but I absolutely love seeing posts from either platform on the other platform, because it reminds me of how cool the Fediverse is. I also sort of like that the posts end up formatted slightly differently because it means that you can tell that it’s interoperability in action, even if it feels strange at first go.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
8·11 days agoSymphonium, a music app for android (maybe also iOS, dunno). I’ve tried so many other apps for both local and remote music, none of them come even close - I particularly like the pre-caching and rolling cache features, as there are some places I go regularly where connection is spotty, and they allow me to stream pretty much uninterrupted from my subsonic server.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you make a grocery list, or do you just go to the store and wing it?
2·12 days agoCan confirm it isn’t, I was also a user during that period, and still am, I haven’t had to update my docker image in a fair while.
Maybe, but in this case I was talking about the popular opinion in my city. That said, my sibling in another city has the same thing going on.
I swear this is propaganda. I have 3 farmers’ markets within biking distance of me (that I’ve visited regularly, there are another 2 on inconvenient days for me), in a capital city. All are cheaper than the grocery store. Yet when I tell people I do my weekly shop at the farmer’s markets, they always say something to this effect. The popular opinion simply does not match the reality. There are some stalls which are more expensive, but they are usually targeting a much higher quality, and are normally prepared products (pasta, sauces, etc.) rather than raw produce.

Literally looks like the “obviously evil” propaganda movie at the start of Helldivers 2
