  • Along with all of the politicians that helped them get to where they are, a market manipulating monopoly. I can remember a campaign warning that this would happen if they got control.

I can’t remember what they were known as before it went ahead, but I think the campaign was against ‘world nation’ or something similar, around 2007 (Years after they had already been monopolising in many other ways in the US). It was a fairly basic website - no social media, but it spelled out in detail every single little thing that was bad about allowing them all to merge, and what would happen.

It was largely ignored, and now we have this global behemoth destroying festivals and events worldwide, taking over some of the best and turning them to shit, overcharging for everything, little to no competition, hiring touts to resell their tickets, claiming tickets are sold out so that their ‘dynamic pricing’ could charge more. Creating reseller platforms and allowing themselves to drive the prices up to insane levels that they would never get away with on their regular sites.

And the only reason it even got looked at is because the Presidents daughter or somebody wanted to go to Taylor Swift and the prices were crazy. It would probably be still ongoing today (and may still if Trump can do anything). That’s why so many politicians get free tickets and is the same reason that politicians shouldn’t get free tickets to anything.

  • The UK wasn’t asked to intervene on behalf of Ireland, and it is very unlikely that they would be. The article specifically mentions that the Irish government have done fuck all too, other than condemn it. They are mostly forced to do that, as the majority of Ireland’s population would be against this.

The article also mentions that there are British people on the flotilla that were also kidnapped/abducted in International waters, illegally, by Israel, and Starmer hasn’t even condemned it. He has said or done nothing about it.

The only reason Ireland is linked, is because one of the people taken, has a famous (in Ireland) sister, who happens to be President, (which is not the head of government in Ireland). There are many more nationalities on board the flotilla.

But second; It’s the relative of the IRISH president! You know the sovereign country that exists outside the UK! The fuck is Starmer, prime minister of the UK supposed to do about it?! Also Ireland can stand on it’s own two feet without the UK interfering with Irish politics.

The sister of the Irish president (you know, the sovereign country that exists outside the UK!) was only one person on board. They were off the coast of Cyprus, you know, a country that exists in Europe, and has nothing to do with Israel.

The article that you obviously didn’t read, or the one that was linked after that, but decided to add your tuppence worth anyway, Mentions other people on board of the flotilla. I will quote one of the relevant bits for you. I will even bold some of it.

The Irish government condemned Israel’s actions as “wrong” and “unacceptable”.

UK citizens are also among the victims, but UK PM Keir Starmer has still kept silent about Israel’s crimes. Abductees in previous flotillas have been beaten and tortured, and at least one has been raped. The occupation regime regards rape as a weapon of war. Its routine and brutal rape of Palestinian prisoners has begun even to catch the attention of US ‘mainstream’ media, but is still mostly ignored by UK ‘msm’ – though a few have noted Israel’s threat to sue the New York Times for covering it.

NOBODY in Ireland wants the UK (Especially in this context) to interfere with Irish politics. If you knew anything at all about the history of Ireland and the UK, and the ongoing mess in the North of Ireland, you might have been able to stop yourself sounding so obtuse about this. It also might have helped if you had read the article that people are specifically talking about in this thread.

  • It’s doubtful that the kid ‘fooled’ it. It’s far more likely that it’s programmed to let any kids that try to circumvent it, ‘fool’ it.

I don’t use any social media other than this, and maybe a few music/audio forums.

But. I honestly don’t get why more haven’t moved to Pixelfed or Nerimity, as they are far more privacy focused (not very hard comparing to anything Meta).

If it’s lack of communities/people, why not use the meta platform to advertise one of those two, the way everyone did the “je suis Charlie” thing that was all over the news a few years ago?

Meta are apparently unable to stop users doing something like that, allegedly.

Or so it seems when it’s not their problem.

They are genuine questions by the way… I don’t get it, but I’ve never been on any of them, not even MySpace or Bebo.

  • I was looking forward to getting Ubuntu touch on my phone, I hunted down a decent phone within my price range and installed it on to it. I knew straight away I didn’t like it.

But, hopefully they’ll keep moving forward with it, and I’ll look at it again in the future. I love the idea of it, it just wasn’t for me in its current form back then.
